Airborne Composites has developed and manufactured high pressure / high temperature coreholders for Shell International Exploration and Production BV in Rijswijk, The Netherlands. These coreholders are used to investigate borehole core-samples. The use of carbon fiber composites makes the coreholdes transparant for X-rays. The pressure rating is 250 bar, at a temperature of 200ºC. A cyanate-ester matrix system is used to be capable to withstand such high temperatures.
The products have been tested in-house in Airborne"s high pressure test facility, at combined pressure and temperature loading in accordance to PED-guidelines.
