Airborne supports the Dutch Ministry of Defence since 2005 with the maintenance and structural repairs of the composite Sperwer UAV airframe. At this moment the Dutch forces have taken 51 Belly Pods (bottom part of the airframe) into Kamp Holland in Uruzgan Afghanistan, from which 21 pieces are modified by Airborne Composites.
Since 31st December 2006 the MoD uses the Sperwer on a daily basis to support the international ground troops. The Sperwer is an excellent system to obtain information and to increase the actual situational awareness. The UAV is since March 2006 also deployed by the Canadians in Afghanistan and is in use by the Swedish (dubbed UGGLAN) and Greek forces.
